Constellations 1

The Lord has been Talking to me, on and off for some time, about the cosmos. Before Him Talking to me about it, I had zero interest in nor knowledge of outer space. An important disclaimer: Do not read horoscopes, they are divination.

ASTRONOMY VERSUS ASTROLOGY

Astronomy is one of the oldest physical sciences. Astronomy studies everything beyond the earth's atmosphere. (AmericanMuseumNaturalHistory) Physical science is a branch of natural science that studies non-living systems, such as matter, energy, space, and time. Astronomers apply physics, mathematics, and chemistry to explain the origins and behaviors of planets, moons, stars, nebulae, galaxies, and other celestial bodies, as well as the Universe as a whole. Astrology is a system of divination based primarily on the zodiac, historically used in attempt to discern the will of the pagan gods and the foretelling of events.

Archaeologists have discovered pre-historical artifacts depicting astronomical observations. A 32,500-year-old carved ivory mammoth tusk could contain the oldest known star chart (resembling the constellation Orion). Cave drawings ... possible graphical depictions of the Pleiades, the Summer Triangle, and Northern Crown ... in the Lascaux caves in France could date 33,000 to 10,000 years ago. (wikipedia) Those dates are science dates based off of evolutionary view, as opposed to a young earth creationist view.

Systematic observational astronomy emerged in Mesopotamia with the Babylonians (~1000 BC to 2000 BC), who created the earliest written records, star catalogs, and mathematical predictions for eclipses and planetary movements using clay tablets. (wikipedia)

• Genesis 11:28-31 (ESV) 28 Haran died in the presence of his father Terah in the land of his kindred, in Ur of the Chaldeans. 29 And Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram's wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran the father of Milcah and Iscah. 30 Now Sarai was barren; she had no child. 31 Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife, and they went forth together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran, they settled there.

The Chaldeans of Babylon (modern day Iraq) were a semitic-speaking people who migrated from the Levant to Mesopotamia. (wikipedia)

• The Levant is mostly modern-day Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Palestine, and Jordan. It is a significant crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa. The term derives from the French levant, meaning "rising", referring to the direction of the sunrise in the east from a European perspective. (thelevantshop.com)

• Semitic speaking refers to a language group that includes Arabic, Hebrew, Aramaic, Amharic, Akkadian, and Phoenician. The term originates from Noah's son, Shem, and the nations formed from his descendants in the Table of Nations.

• Abram was taken from Ur of the Chaldeans, Instructed by God to go to a land he did not know. In Luke 3, Jesus's lineage shows that Abram is a descendant of Shem. So, technically, Abram is returning to the land of his ancestors.

The Chaldeans were mostly in the southeast region of Babylon, but many of the Babylonian kings were Chaldeans. Nebuchadnezzar II is a famous Chaldean ruler of Babylon. The Chaldeans were known for their magis ... a priestly caste highly skilled in astronomy and divination. Partially to aid in their astronomy, they built many ziggurat temples, atop which they maintained fire altars to their gods. It is possible this is the Fiery Furnace in Daniel:

• Daniel 3:8 & 12 The Fiery Furnace 8 Therefore at that time certain Chaldeans came forward and maliciously accused the Jews ... 12 There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, pay no attention to you; they do not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”

• Daniel 3:13 & 15 13 Then Nebuchadnezzar in furious rage commanded that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego be brought ... 15 Now if you are ready when you hear the sound ... fall down and worship the image that I have made, well and good. But if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?”

Magi means "skilled magicians, astrologers."

• Matthew 2:1 -2 The Visit of the Wise Men 1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men (Greek word "magoi") from the east came to Jerusalem 2 saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose (or "in the east") and have come to worship him.”

• Matthew 2:9-11 9 After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. 11 And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

For their lack of modern technology and scientific tools, it cannot be understated how accurate ancient astronomers were. Serpent Mound in Ohio was built approximately 321 BC. The head is said to line up with the sun setting on the longest day of the year, the summer solstice, and the other alignments in image below. Though this earthwork effigy is not astronomically verified, many ancient pyramids, ziggurats, and other structures are. (vaticanobservatory)

I think this is enough context regarding ancient astronomy. Part 2 will focus on what Lord was Revealing to me today, related to His Word.

In 2025, Lord Gave me a vision - read it in post "The Eternal Story" - where He Removed a painting from an easel, and Said "You think I’m Completing a Work that is almost done…” Then Zoomed in on the starry night sky and Said, “But I’m removing the canvas. This Story is written on the cosmos”. That abbreviated summary does not do it justice, please read the full description.

I just realized Part 2 may be somewhat adjacent to this prior prophetic vision & word.

Daniel's response when God Revealed Nebuchadnezzar's dream: Daniel 2:20-22 20 ... “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. 21 He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; 22 he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.
